VELUX Bracket Standardization Project
Feb 2024 – Jun 2024 · University of Southern Denmark & VELUX A/S
Reducing Product Complexity with Smart Bracket Design
Project Overview
I collaborated with product developers at VELUX to design a standardized snap-fit mounting bracket for RG and RLG window blinds.
My Role
Led the mechanical analysis, design, and simulation of snap-fit mechanisms
Developed multiple bracket prototypes using CAD (Siemens NX)
Conducted FEA simulations and physical tests using 3D-printed models
Collaborated with VELUX engineers to align the design with real-world constraints
Design Process

Dual guide bar concept – good direction control, but poor tolerance robustness
Single bar approach – simplified, but still mold-complex
Final cantilever design – eliminated internal locking, relied on flexible geometry
